Talofa & Kia Orana! My name is Anne-Maire Herman.
Family
I am the first of 40 grandchildren to the late Joseph Metuaiviivitoa and Mikara Herman and the first daughter of Atatoa Herman and Teuira Pirangi. I have 4 warrior brothers and 3 beautiful sisters. I am of Mangaia, Mitiaro and Rarotonga descent and I am privileged to be representing the Pacific’s Necklace of Pearls, the 15 islands of the Cook Islands, in this years Miss South Pacific Pageant hosted by beautiful American Samoa.
Education
I was educated in Tereora College where I received a scholarship to Victoria University in New Zealand and graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration majoring in Economics and Commercial Law.
Career
I returned to begin my career in the banking industry, working for ANZ Cook Islands for 5 years with 3 years as Branch Manager.
I was recently appointed as CEO of the Cook Islands National Superannuation Fund where I lead an all girl team, which makes me the youngest CEO in Cook Islands Govt. My new role challenges me on a daily basis and it is very rewarding to know that the work we are doing now, will provide financial stability for the future of every working Cook Islander and their families.
Community
Self-development and the development of my people is a personal passion of mine and has driven my interest to serve my community. I am the current President of Rotaract and am a member of my church Youth Music Ministry. Both groups have a similar purpose, which is to encourage youth to do something worthwhile with their time and inspire them to be the best they can be.
Personal Hobbies and Aspirations
My hobbies include the Arts, Music Composition and Singing, Design and Travel. I have been fortunate enough to travel to the many Pacific Nations over the past few years and more recently Asia and I still have to say, there is no place like home.
My future aspirations are to complete my Masters in Business Administration through the University of the South Pacific and to continue to contribute meaningfully to my country and our Pacific Region.
On behalf of the people of the Cook Islands, from our family to yours, Malo lava & Kia Manuia!
